Everything Begins With an Idea
It began with an idea
I coach executives 1-1, but I also wanted a way for leaders at all levels to be able to solve problems with creativity when they need a solution, and not have to wait until there’s money in the budget for long-term coaching or training. I think this is vitally important because in this new world of operating we need to be able to make important decisions quickly.
I had an idea for an online coaching group where leaders could get on-the-spot recommendations for creatively addressing issues. Those issues could be related to staff satisfaction or attrition, the bottom line or budget allocation, or an inability to come up with solutions to customer/client problems.
Then came the vision
I called this group “The Leadership Lab: Creative Problem-Solving at Work”. The Lab is a weekly office hours style learning lab, on Zoom. The number of participants is purposely kept low so everyone has a chance to get their questions answered. The Lab is a place where, even if you don’t have a question, you can still learn about creative problem-solving techniques, how they can be applied in a broad range of ways in the workplace, and how to create a culture that embraces innovation. There’s a special website page for resources and a private Facebook page for participants to continue the discussion and help each other out. I don’t have it completely figured out yet, but I know in my bones this is a valuable learning platform.
