Under the Microscope in The Leadership Lab
Last week I announced that the doors were open for “The BETA Leadership Lab: Creative Problem-Solving at Work” (The Beta Lab begins October 8th and runs for 8 weeks; deadline for applications is Sept 8th). It occurred to me that you may be wondering what topics might come up in the sessions. These are the areas in which participants will likely be seeking solutions…
Some folks have already mentioned that a big 3am sweat issue is strategic planning:
· How to bring creativity to strategic planning
· How to creatively respond to an ever-increasing number of external requirements
· The role the team plays in strategic planning
Speaking of teams, this will be a big topic:
· How can the team work better together
· How to improve morale
· How to keep talented staff
No doubt culture will be part of our discussions. As I mentioned in my last post, it’s easy to identify the different characteristics of your workplace culture. What’s not so easy is changing the culture and I expect there to be questions around:
· How to create a culture of innovation
· Getting staff and leadership on board the innovation train
· Managing change
And, of course, leadership. This won’t be ordinary leadership coaching:
· Think, “leader as coach”
· Think, “how can I use questions as a leadership tool?”
And what would this program be without a creative problem-solving (CPS) process? The Light Bulb Thinking™ framework will be our guide in:
· How to facilitate CPS techniques with your team
· Practicing creative brainstorming
· Designing an environment that encourages systematic inspiration
Details about The Leadership Lab can be found here. As a reminder there are only 20 places are available, and these are by application only – the deadline to apply is Sept 8th. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
As your Innovation Coach, I look forward to seeing you in The Lab!
